One of the more coarse problems with an open water theory like swimming pools, is having a nasty infestation of bugs in pool water. If you have a bug question chances are pretty good it's one of the two I'm going to be writing about in this article. We'll look at what they are, how to identify them, and steps to take to get rid of them.
Waterboatman:
Get Rid Mosquitoes
Waterboatman are oval shaped and small. Luckily, they do not bite humans, but can make a swimming pool's water authentically dirty. They eat mosquito larvae which can authentically be helpful in clear areas, but absolutely not pool water. Their biggest source of cusine comes from underwater plants and the like, including algae, which is a very coarse question most pool owners will have to deal with at one time or another.
The easiest way to deal with waterboatman is to take away their food source. In this case, if you have a waterboatman infestation then chances are good you have a bit of an algae problem. Take steps to eliminate the algae and in a integrate of days they should all be gone. If you want a faster clarification there are chemicals designed specifically to kill bugs in pool water, so be sure to visit your local pool store for guidance on what will be best for your pool.
Backswimmers:
Backswimmers are a bit larger than waterboatman and do bite. Their bite is compared to that of a bee sting, which is never fun to have. Backswimmers feed on other water bugs and insects. Chances are, if you have backswimmers then you have an infestation of an additional one type of bug as well. (Perhaps waterboatman?)
The best way to get backswimmers out of your pool is to again eliminate their food source. Focus on getting rid of any underwater vegetation problems, like algae growth, first. Once that's taken care of, other bugs that feed off of this vegetation will disappear, taking away a backswimmers source of nutrition.
One thing to note about both these bugs is that they both lay their eggs in water vegetation. I cannot stress adequate the importance of taking care of that question first, not only are you effectively eliminating their food source, you're also taking away chances of more being born in your pool.
Bugs in pool water generally appear because of poor pool maintenance. However, don't let that get you down. The truth is a lot of pool "experts" generally give bad guidance as they try and persuade you to buy their chemicals and equipment, when in a lot of cases you can authentically take care of these problems on your own.
