You've been dying to enjoy those cool summer nights on your porch, but there's one thing advent between you and your backyard: mosquitoes. You're not alone! Mosquitoes are one of the peskiest insects, swarming colse to your face and leaving tiny, itchy bumps all over your arms and legs. You can't seem to get any gardening done without advent back in the house looking like you've come down with chicken pots. Not only that, but it seems like the mosquitoes are more heavily populated colse to Your house.
If mosquitoes are making your summer unbearable, there's something you can do about it! Mosquito control does not have to be impossible. Here are some things you can do to help you enjoy the outdoors again without those annoying petite bugs. The Environmental security group recommends two measures to lessen the nuisance of mosquitoes in your life: (1) take off their habitat and (2) prevent your exposure.
Get Rid Mosquitoes
Remove Their Habitat
The first step in mosquito control is to get rid of the places where mosquitoes live and breed. Since mosquitoes tend to hover colse to areas with water, this would likely comprise ponds, fountains, pools, and birdbaths in your yard. Be sure to clean these and filter the water often. The less standing water you have the less likely your opening of providing a mosquito habitat. Check your rain gutters, plastic buckets, and in any place you might have standing water that has been forgotten about or may have been unknown previously. You may want to drain water such as birdbaths etc. For a temporary whole of time to help take off the mosquitoes that are living in your yard.
Prevent Exposure
Mosquito repellents are ready on the store and are very sufficient in retention mosquitoes away from you. Look for Epa-approved products and use them as a precaution anytime you will have high exposure to mosquitoes, such as before playing or working exterior for extended periods of time. Wear long sleeves and long pants if you will be entering a very populated area, such as swampy woods or near lakes.
To safe your home, you can use outdoor "bug" lights-yellow lights that detract mosquitoes and help keep them away from your home. Be sure your screens on windows and doors are also tight, and use screen patches and caulk when necessary. Ensure windows and doors mouth a tight seal to prevent the entrance of mosquitoes and other bugs into your home.
